A 23-year-old dies after car hits horse and wall on PR-456

An accident on the PR-456 in West Santa Maria ended with the death of a 23-year-old in the early hours of Sunday (13). The car driven by the victim hit a horse that was on the track and then hit the wall of a power substation.

The occurrence was recorded in km 19 of PR-456, in the stretch between the municipalities of Pitanga and Santa Maria of the West, in the central region of Paraná.

According to the information raised at the scene, the young man was driving a Fiat Uno Vivace, with plates of Santa Maria from the West, and was traveling in the direction of Pitanga–Santa Maria from the West.

During the journey, the car hit a horse that was on the highway. After the collision with the animal, the driver lost the vehicle’s trajectory, which left the track and hit the wall of a power substation located on the banks of the PR-456.

Driver died at the scene

The driver, identified by the initials T.M.G., was 23 years old. Due to the violence of the impact, the young man suffered serious injuries and died still at the scene of the accident.

Teams of the competent bodies were activated to attend to the occurrence and perform the necessary procedures.

The Civil Police of Pitanga were on the scene, as well as teams of the Scientific Police and the service responsible for the removal of the body.

After the forensic work, the body of the young man was sent to the Scientific Police unit of Guarapuava for the necessary examinations.

Circumstances will be investigated

The circumstances of the accident on PR-456 in Santa Maria of the West should be determined by the responsible authorities.

Among the points that should be part of the calculation is the dynamics of the collision with the horse found on the highway and the sequence that caused the Fiat Uno to leave the trajectory and reach the structure of the substation.

So far, no other information has been released about how the animal arrived on the track or about its condition after the collision.

The section of the PR-456 where the accident occurred connects municipalities of the central region of the Paraná and requires attention from drivers, especially during the early hours and in situations of low visibility.

New information on the occurrence may be disclosed by the investigating authorities.
