Exam helps in cancer prevention
Preventive examination, known as Pap smear, allows you to identify changes in the cells of the cervix before they evolve into more severe conditions.
The procedure can also help identify infections and inflammations caused by fungi, bacteria and viruses, including HPV, considered one of the main risk factors for the development of cervical cancer.
The recommendation is that women seek the health unit to receive guidance on the indication and the appropriate periodicity of the examination.
