Dog rescued in Ponta Grossa after cruelty report dies this Saturday

The dog that had been rescued by the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) of Ponta Grossa died on Saturday (12) after a denunciation of possible ill-treatment. The animal, found in a weakened state and with signs of malnutrition in a residence in Vila Margarida, region of Orphans, came to receive veterinary care and waited for results of examinations to evaluate his health.

The case mobilized teams from the GCM and the Reference Center for Animals at Risk (CRAR) on Wednesday (9), after residents denounced the situation of the animal. According to information obtained on the spot by the journalist Heryvelton Martins, the dog showed signs of malnutrition and was in conditions considered concerning.

The complaint was made by residents of the region, who triggered the responsible organs after perceiving the state of fragility of the animal. The Municipal Civil Guard went to the indicated address and spoke with the person in charge of the property.

Initially, according to the information passed on by the teams, there would have been resistance to the removal of the dog and referral to care. After dialogue with the professionals, the entry of the CRAR team was authorized and the animal was removed from the site.

Animal received veterinary care

After the rescue, the dog underwent evaluation and performed tests to check his health. Among the possibilities investigated was the suspicion of cinomosis, a viral disease that can seriously compromise the health of the animals.

The dog remained under care and awaited the results of the tests to confirm the diagnosis. Despite receiving care, the animal was unable to recover and died on Saturday (12).

Due to the condition found at the time of the rescue, the Environmental Patrol of the Municipal Civil Guard also recorded the occurrence through the Occurrence Bulletin.

The case involving the death of the dog reinforces the importance of the reports of mistreatment against animals. Situations of abandonment, lack of adequate nutrition, absence of veterinary care or any form of violence can be communicated to the responsible bodies so that the necessary measures are taken.

The guidance is that residents who witness suspicious situations seek the official channels of care, ensuring that animals at risk can receive help.
