Driver dies after collision between car and truck on PR-340 in Castro

An accident on the PR-340 in Castro ended with the death of a driver on Friday night (25). The collision involving a Chevrolet Onix and a truck took place at around 8:40 p.m., at km 218.1 of the highway, on the stretch between Castro and Castrolanda.

According to information from the Piraí do Sul Road Police Station, the accident was recorded as a cross-sectional collision. The Chevrolet Onix, with Castro’s plates, was following the PR-340 in the Castro–Castrolandia direction when it was involved in the crash with a DAF/XF FTS 480 truck.

According to the data collected on site by the Road Police, the truck was performing a maneuver to cross the runway with the intention of entering the yard of a company when the collision occurred.

The driver was rescued in serious condition.

The driver of the Onix suffered serious injuries. Initially, he was referred to Castro's Pronto Atendimento Unit (UPA).

The police said the driver could not resist the injuries and died. In the initial report released by the authorities, the identity and age of the victim were not reported.

The accident on PR-340 in Castro also caused material damage to the vehicles involved.

The driver of the truck was not injured

The driver of the truck, a 45-year-old man, was not injured.

The collision took place at km 218+100 meters from PR-340, a stretch that connects Castro to the Castrolanda region.
