Driver dies after pickup truck overturned on PRC-466
A lateral collision between a Hilux pickup truck and a Celta occurred in the afternoon of this Thursday (28); the vehicle overturned several times and the driver died at the scene.
An accident on the PRC-466 at Manoel Ribas in the central region of Paraná left a 33-year-old driver dead and other people injured late on Wednesday. The lateral collision between a Toyota Hilux and a Chevrolet Celta occurred at around 3 p.m., at kilometer 145.4 of the highway. After the impact, the truck rolled over several times and the driver died on the spot.
According to information from the State Road Police (PRE), the two vehicles involved in the accident have plates of Manoel Ribas. The Hilux truck went in the direction of Pitanga–Ivaiporã, while the Celta went in the direction of Nova Tebas–Cânido de Abreu.
According to the survey carried out by the police on the spot, the vehicles were involved in a lateral collision. Afterwards, the driver of the truck lost control of the steering, causing the vehicle to roll over several times.
The driver of the Hilux, 33, could not resist the injuries and died at the scene of the accident.
Victims were referred to medical care
A 24-year-old passenger of the truck suffered injuries considered moderate and needed to be hospitalized.
The driver of the Chevrolet Celta was also referred for medical attention. The State Road Police did not detail the age of the driver nor the severity of the injuries presented by her.
The police report also mentions the referral of two passengers to medical care, but does not clarify the identification and health status of all those involved.
Vehicles had different destinations after the collision
After the procedures carried out at the accident site on PRC-466, the Toyota Hilux truck was released to a person responsible.
The Chevrolet Celta was administratively pending and, for this reason, was collected in the yard of the Military Police Detachment (DPM) of Manoel Ribas. Subsequently, the vehicle must be referred to the courtyard of the State Road Police.
The information was passed on by Polícia Militar Rodoviária, through the 5th Company of the Road Police Battalion (BPRv).
Until the release of the report, there was no detailed information about the circumstances that caused the lateral collision.
The accident resulted in the death of a driver and the referral of other people to medical care. The circumstances of the occurrence still need to be clarified.
