A 39-year-old man was arrested after being caught driving a vehicle cloned into Piraí do Sul, in the Campos Gerais. The approach was carried out by teams of the Civil Police of Paraná (PCPR) and the Military Police of Paraná (PMPR), in PR-090, near the entrance of Vila Rural.
According to the information passed on by the Civil Police, the vehicle, a GM Onix, was approached during a joint action of the security forces. During the inspection, the police began to check the signs identifying the car and found several irregularities.
Police found signs of adulteration.
According to the PCPR, the vehicle exhibited tampering with the chassis number and also with the windows, which would have been re-marked. After analyzing the identification elements, the teams found that it was a cloned vehicle.
The suspect is that the car was coming from Mato Grosso and would pass through the region of Piraí do Sul when the approach occurred on PR-090.
The 39-year-old driver was arrested in flagrante for the crime of tampering with a motor vehicle identifier.
Man was taken to prison unit
After the procedures carried out by the police teams, the suspect was referred to legal proceedings.
According to the Civil Police, the man was later taken to the Penitentiary Unit of Castro, where he remains at the disposal of the Justice.
The crime of tampering with a vehicle identifier is provided for in the Criminal Code and can result in imprisonment.
The seizure of the vehicle cloned in Piraí do Sul will be investigated to determine the original origin of the automobile and clarify how the changes in the identifying signals occurred.
The Civil Police must also ascertain other circumstances involving the vehicle, including its origin, ownership and possible connection to other crimes.
The joint action between PCPR and PMPR took place in the PR-090 region, one of the main road links of Piraí do Sul with other municipalities of Campos Gerais.
