Politicians from various parts of the world continue to demonstrate, after the re-election of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Sunday (25).

French President Emmanuel Macron used social media to congratulate his Brazilian counterpart.

"Congratulations, Lula, on your re-election. France and Brazil have a lot to build together. In the face of the great challenges of our time, let us strengthen our strategic partnership and make the friendship between our two countries live in the service of a fairer world.”

The Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchéz, was another to use social media to exalt Lula’s victory over the far right.

“Great victory for Lula! What happened in Brazil will happen in Spain. The turn of global progressivism has just begun.”

The president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, also went to X, former Twitter, to congratulate the Brazilian president.

"Congratulations, Lula, on this victory. Our region has common enemies, shared challenges and a lot to gain from working together.”

Noboa is a right-wing politician and one of the allies of Estados Unidos president Donald Trump in South America.

Other Latin American leaders also congratulated the Brazilian on his reelection. Among them are the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, and the President of Uruguay, Yamandu Orsi.

Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney also praised the relationship between his country and Brazil by congratulating the re-elected president.

“The relationship between Canada and Brazil flourished under our partnership. Let’s take this opportunity to make it even stronger, together – to create new great trade opportunities, protect the environment and build greater prosperity for the peoples of both countries.”

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaishi said she hoped Lula would “continue to lead Brazil with his strong leadership” and was eager to work with the Brazilian and “further narrow the global strategic partnership in a wide range of areas.” Among these areas, Takaishi cited an agreement between Japan and Mercosur.

China released a statement through the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman.

“China is willing to work with Brazil to continue to move forward in building a community of shared future between the two countries.”

Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, spoke of “recognition of Brazilians for their remarkable leadership qualities, their support for the country’s sustainable desenvolvimento socioeconômico policy and the protection of their sovereignty and legitimate interests on the global stage.”

Ursula Von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, published a statement addressing Lula and exalted the flag of multilateralism, much defended by the Brazilian in his speeches abroad. “Congratulations to my friend Lula on his electoral victory. Democracy and multilateralism have won in Brazil.”

The mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani, in a press interview on Monday (26), said that he was going home when he saw several New Yorkers coming out of a bar shouting Lula's name, which he said showed the animation of the residents of the city with the victory of the PT candidate.

“I’ve seen how much he means to so many people in this city, in this country and all over the world, honestly.” On social media, Mamdani also sent a message to Lula. “The united people will never be defeated! Congratulations, President Lula.”
