The Câmara Municipal de Ponta Grossa (CMPG) received, on Wednesday (30), representatives of the AMMA Institute during the Free Tribune. The organization, which acts in the prevention and the confrontation of child sexual abuse, presented to the councilors the program “Click Safe – Circles of dialogue to care, connect and protect”.

During the participation, the representative Fernanda Popoaski Szwaidak of the AMMA Institute highlighted actions already carried out by the entity in the municipality, including lectures in schools and a training focused on the protection network. According to her, they participated in professional training in the areas of social assistance, health and education, as well as servants of the Municipal Guard.

The training, held last week, addressed issues related to restorative justice, emotional education, sexual education and prevention of sexual abuse. The proposal presented is to strengthen the integrated performance of professionals who serve children and adolescents.

The AMMA Institute also requested the support of councillors to enable the implementation of the “Safe Click” program in municipal schools. The initiative aims to work with children from approximately six to 11 years old, using resources such as children's literature and activities aimed at preventing situations of violence, bullying, cyberbullying and risks related to the use of the Internet.

Fernanda also stressed the importance of guidance from parents and guardians on the risks present in the digital environment. Among the points addressed is the sharing of images of children on social networks and the need to expand the knowledge of families about internet security.

During the speech, the AMMA Institute argued that prevention must occur before abuse situations occur and asked councilors to consider the allocation of resources for the project in next year’s planning. The entity also made available to councillors training on how to act in the face of a possible disclosure of abuse made by a child, including guidelines on listening and referral to the services of the protection network.

At the end of the participation, the representative stressed that the prevention of child sexual abuse must involve different sectors of society. “We cannot demand that a child know how to protect himself from dangers, nor can adults,” he said.
