Man is arrested for laptop theft in Piraí do Sul. Suspect had already been detained for vehicle theft this month and was on provisional release.
A 32-year-old man was arrested in flagrante by the Civil Police of Paraná (PCPR), suspected of involvement in a laptop theft in Piraí do Sul, in Campos Gerais. The equipment was recovered after diligence by investigators, who identified the suspect through security camera images. According to police, he had already been arrested for vehicle theft in early October and was on provisional release.
The arrest was carried out on Wednesday (28), by agents of the Civil Police Station of Piraí do Sul, after the recording of the occurrence. The team began investigations to identify the person responsible for the crime and locate the computer taken.
During the police work, investigators analyzed images of security cameras installed near the place where the theft occurred. The records helped in identifying the suspect, allowing the agents to conduct diligence to find him.
After the location and approach, the man informed the police where the stolen notebook was. With the information, the team was able to recover the equipment.
The suspect had already been arrested for another theft.
One of the points that caught the attention of the researchers was the recent history of the man. According to the Civil Police, he had been arrested in early October for the theft of a vehicle, but was on provisional release.
In addition to the occurrence involving the notebook, the suspect is also being investigated for other thefts recorded in Piraí do Sul. The company has not detailed what these cases are or at what stage the other investigations are.
The new arrest occurred in flagrante, as a result of the theft of electronic equipment. The Civil Police did not disclose the exact location of the occurrence nor the estimated value of the recovered notebook.
The man was sent to Castro’s public prison.
After the procedures carried out at the police station, the man was convicted of the crime of theft and referred to the Public Chain of Castro, a neighboring municipality of Piraí do Sul.
According to PCPR, he remains at the disposal of the court, which is expected to review the legal procedures related to the new arrest.
The recovery of the notebook was the result of the investigation carried out by the police team, with the help of security cameras near the crime scene.
