Men men pursue truck and shoot driver to death on BR-369 in Cambé

A truck driver was shot dead on BR-369 in Cambé, north of Paraná, he was identified as Sidney Macedo Ribeiro, 64. The driver was killed inside the cab of the vehicle on Friday night during an attack on the urban stretch of the highway. The victim's wife was in the truck at the time of the shooting, but was not shot.

According to information passed on by the Federal Highway Police (PRF) and the Military Police (PM), the crime happened around 7 pm, in the direction of Londrina-Cambé. The truck driven by the victim was an old FNM model, popularly known as Fenemê.

According to the initial information of the investigation, the vehicle was allegedly pursued by four men who were in a car. The chase ended when the truck driver had to stop at a traffic light located on BR-369.

At this time, the suspects were reported to have gotten out of the car and fired at the truck’s cabin. At least four shots struck the windshield and vehicle structure.

The driver’s wife was in the truck during the attack and witnessed all the action, but escaped without injuries. After the shootings, people passing by assisted the woman until the arrival of the emergency teams.

Teams of the Integrated Emergency Trauma Service (Siate) and the Mobile Emergency Service (SAMU) were activated to respond to the occurrence. Rescuers performed resuscitation maneuvers for more than 40 minutes, but Sidney Macedo Ribeiro could not resist the injuries.

The victim had injuries mainly in the region of the face, chest and abdomen.

Police investigate motive of crime

After the murder, teams from the Civil Police of Paraná (PCPR) and the intelligence sector of the 11th Independent Military Police Company began diligences to try to locate those involved.

The first information points out that investigators analyze the possibility that the crime is related to a commercial disagreement or settling of accounts. The official motivation, however, will still be clarified during the progress of the investigation.

The Civil Police continue to investigate the murder to identify the perpetrators and clarify the motivation of the attack.
