Operation Phoenix strengthens fight against violent crimes in Ponta Grossa
Operation Phoenix in Ponta Grossa reinforces policing, stops and inspections to prevent violent crimes during October and November.

Operation Phoenix on Ponta Grossa was initiated on Friday by the 1st Military Police Battalion (1st BPM) to intensify the prevention and fight against violent crime. The strategy will have policing actions, approaches and inspections in the city and in the other municipalities served by the unit.
According to the Paraná (PMPR) Military Police, the operation has special attention to occurrences involving white weapons, including knives, knives and other piercing instruments. The objective is to increase the police presence mainly in places where analyses indicate greater vulnerability to situations of violence.
Data guides police action
Operation Phoenix was structured from statistical surveys and analysis of police occurrences. According to the 1st BPM, the data indicated the presence of white weapons in episodes of violence, including homicides and cases of serious bodily injury.
From this information, the battalion defined actions directed at points considered most vulnerable. Ostensive policing will be reinforced mainly in commercial establishments, public spaces and regions with large movement of people or history of conflicts.
The strategy seeks to act in a preventive way, expanding the presence of teams before situations of disagreement or conflict result in occurrences of greater severity.
Operation will have approaches and controls
Among the activities planned during Operation Phoenix in Ponta Grossa are preventive patrols, suspicious police approaches, traffic blockades and inspections of commercial establishments.
Depending on the action taken, other bodies may also participate in the audits. The Military Police said that municipal institutions, the Vigilância Sanitária and the Fire Department, could act in an integrated way, respecting the attributions of each body.
In addition to preventing violent crimes, teams must verify situations related to the irregular carrying of white weapons and any irregularities found during the inspections carried out in the establishments.
Actions continue until November
Operation Phoenix is expected to take place during the months of October and November. The activities will occur periodically and may be directed according to the needs identified in each municipality belonging to the area of activity of the 1st BPM.
According to the Military Police, the planning may consider criminal data and specific characteristics of each region to define the locations that will receive reinforcement in preventive actions.
The main objective of the initiative, according to the battalion, is to reduce situations that may result in episodes of serious violence and to increase the security of the population in public spaces.
With Operation Phoenix, the 1st BPM intends to combine criminal analysis, ostensible presence and enforcement to strengthen prevention during the next two months in Ponta Grossa and in the municipalities served by the unit.
