The Civil Police of Paraná (PCPR) received on Thursday, 5th, eight new high-tech equipment to improve the collection and analysis of fingerprints at crime scenes. The devices, known as CSI Pro 3, were acquired by the Secretariat of State for Public Security (Sesp), with an investment of R$ 1.5 million.

The new devices will be destined for teams of papilloscopists who work on shifts in the interior of Paraná and in Curitiba. The technology promises to increase the accuracy of forensic examinations and contribute to the identification of people related to criminal events.

Technology facilitates fingerprint identification

The CSI Pro 3 is a mobile device developed specifically for expert work. The equipment has a polarized camera of 64 megapixels, six sets of LED lighting, as well as special filters that allow to record fingerprints on different surfaces and conditions.

Another important feature is the integrated forensic software, which makes it possible to store records, organize cases, produce reports and mark specific points in the images for later comparison by professionals.

The technology also allows to capture details of fingerprints on materials with different textures, including after the application of chemical powders used in the development of traces.

New devices are more compact and modern

The Civil Police of Paraná had already received nine similar equipment in early 2025. Now, the new acquisition brings an updated version, with improvements in image quality, weight reduction and greater ease of handling.

According to police papiloscopist Allan Simas of Albuquerque, the new devices represent an important advance for teams working directly at crime scenes.

“This equipment is an upgrade from the last one, the CSI Pro 2. It is more intuitive, more compact and enables better image resolution. This will provide our papiloscopists with even more quality in crime scene expertise,” he said.

Equipment to strengthen criminal investigations

Papiloscopic expertise is one of the tools used by the Civil Police to clarify crimes. By identifying and comparing fingerprints found at the scenes, investigators can obtain information that can help identify suspects and reconstruct the facts.

With the new equipment, the expectation is to improve the quality of the records collected during the forensics, facilitating the analysis of traces and strengthening the production of technical proofs.

The acquisition integrates the Government’s investments of Paraná in the modernization of public safety structures and the use of new technologies in the fight against crime.
