Tourism that welcomes different audiences, moves the economy and transforms destinations will be the theme of the VIII Metropolitan Tourism Forum, scheduled for October 29, in Quitandinha, in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba. Promoted by ADETUR Rotas do Pinhão, the meeting will bring together public managers, entrepreneurs, industry professionals, entities, students and leaders to discuss pathways to a more accessible, connected and prepared tourism for the future.

With the theme “Accessibility, Mobility and Education for Destinations + Intelligent”, the event aims to put on the agenda issues that go beyond the structure of tourist attractions. The proposal is to discuss how municipalities can work in an integrated way to improve the visitor experience, expand access to destinations and turn tourism into a tool of desenvolvimento socioeconômico.

Accessibility as part of the tourist experience

Among the issues that will be at the center of the debates is accessibility. For the tourism guide and Inclusive Travel Designer, Viviane Vignoli Mathieu, making destinations accessible means expanding people’s right to know and experience different places.

“More than adapting structures, we need to expand the possibilities of coexistence and participation. Accessibility is not a differentiator, but a right of all and also a collective responsibility,” he says.

The program will also feature architect and urbanist Ricardo Tempel Mesquita, who will address the relationship between architecture, urban spaces and accessibility, as well as professionals linked to education, public policies and regional development.

Tourism, mobility and regional economy

Another axis of the Forum will be mobility and its relationship with the promotion of destinations. The debate will include the participation of Irapuan Cortes Santos, director-president of Viaje Paraná, who will bring to the meeting his experience in public management and the development of tourism in Paraná.

The discussion gains importance in view of the impact of tourism on the generation of jobs, trade movement, services, gastronomy, accommodation and other activities that integrate the tourist chain. The idea is to stimulate solutions that can be applied by the municipalities and enterprises of the region.

The event will also be attended by Giovanni Bagatini, from Fecomércio PR, with references to public policies for tourism, and Josiane Mendes de Moura Weiss, Secretary of Education and Development for the Future of Quitandinha, which will address the role of education in the valorization of territories.

Maria Francisca Sottomaior Cury, president of the Municipal Council of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities of Curitiba (CMDPcD), participates in the debate on accessibility and inclusive tourism. His work broadens the discussion on rights, inclusion and social participation, bringing public management, civil society and people with disabilities closer together in the construction of more accessible destinations.

Within the programming, cooperativism will be addressed as an instrument of regional integration and development, with a lecture by a representative of Sicoob. The presentation, which will be at 16:10, will highlight principles of cooperativism, financial solutions and the strengthening of entrepreneurs. Partnerships and opportunities to boost tourism and the regional economy will also be discussed.

Integration between the 29 municipalities

More than a technical meeting, the Forum seeks to bring together municipalities, companies, institutions and communities that are part of the Tourist Region Routes of Pinhão – Curitiba and Metropolitan Region.

For Geraldo Simião Kutz, executive secretary of ADETUR Rotas do Pinhão, the realization in different municipalities helps to leave connections and new possibilities as a legacy.

“We want Quitandinha to also live this experience and that the Forum be a starting point for new initiatives, partnerships and opportunities for the municipality and for the entire region,” he emphasizes.

Jacó Gimenes Award will be presented during the Forum

The program will also have a moment of recognition to regional tourism with the awarding of the Jacó Gimenes Prize 2026. The tribute highlights people who have contributed to the development of tourist activity in the region.

The finalists of this edition will be announced at the monthly meeting of ADETUR, scheduled for October 14.

The prize is named after Jacó Gimenes and is associated with the work “The Heart of Jacob”, by the artist Alfi Vivern. According to the former president of ADETUR, Eros Consetino Tozetto, Secretary of Tourism of Rio Branco of the South, the award represents a tradition and a way to preserve the memory of those who help to build regional tourism.
