The pagoda group Clareou confirmed for next Saturday, October 24, the live recording of the new audiovisual album, entitled “Rocinha Clareou”. The show will be held in Via Ápia, epicenter of the community of Rocinha, in the southern zone of Rio de Janeiro, from 14h, with free entry. The presentation will feature Branco (voice), Anderson Mendonça, Buiu (pander), and Fernando Mellete (so long).

Currently reduced to a trio, Clareou bets on the symbolic strength of the favela to mark a new phase. The vocalist Branco, made official in February 2024 in place of Vagner Magal, grew up in Rocinha — which makes the choice of the place even more special. The audiovisual recording promises to record the energy of the group in front of the audience that saw it born.

Rocinha as stage and inspiration

The choice of Rocinha is not random. For Branco, returning to the community where he grew up to record an album is a gesture of recognition and belonging. The title “Rocinha Clareou” reinforces this connection, uniting the name of the group to the territory that formed the singer. The Appian Way, known for hosting cultural events, will be turned into a studio at céu aberto.

The production expects an estimated audience of 5,000 people, who will be able to closely monitor the capture of the images. Free entry expands the access of the community and visitors, reinforcing the democratic character of the project. The musical direction will be given to Clay Wilson, who will lead the repertoire.

Special guests on stage

The audiovisual record will have three confirmed participations: Renato da Rocinha, brother of Branco; Mumuzinho, supporter of Clareou since the beginnings, in 2009, when the group was still called Salada Mista; and Ramon Ramos. The presence of Mumuzinho rescues the history of the group, which counted on the endorsement of the singer at the beginning of the trajectory.

Renato da Rocinha brings the family bond and local representativeness, while Ramon Ramos adds his experience to the project. The combination of the three guests expands the scope of the event and reinforces Clareou’s connection with different generations of the pagoda.

Repertory mixes unpublished and hits

Under the musical direction of Clay Wilson, the show will follow a script that includes six previously unreleased songs, the trio’s biggest hits — such as “Fuck You” — and MPB’s songs approaches in pagoda rhythm. The proposal is to present a panorama of the sound identity of the group, without giving up the tradition that consecrated it.

The versions of MPB classics in pagoda led promise to surprise the public and show the versatility of Clareou. The audiovisual recording will allow the material to be eternized and distributed on digital platforms, extending the reach beyond Rocinha.

Expectation and logistics of the event

The structure to receive 5,000 people in the Via Appia will require organization by the production. The source did not detail whether there will be special security scheme or changes in local traffic. The recommendation is that the public arrive early to ensure a good place, since the event is free and open.

Live recording can also impact the dynamics of the show, with pauses for technical adjustments. Still, the expectation is of a fluid presentation, which captures the spontaneity of the group and the energy of the audience. Clareou has not announced a release date for the album.

A landmark for the pagoda carioca

The project “Rocinha Clareou” represents more than a musical record: it is the affirmation of a group that resists and reinvents itself. The choice of the favela as a setting reinforces Clareou’s identity and values the local culture. For Branco, recording in Rocinha is a reunion with his own roots.

With participations of weight and varied repertoire, the event has the potential to become a milestone in the trio’s career. The audiovisual recording will allow the show to be reviewed and shared, bringing Rocinha and the pagoda to new audiences. Next Saturday promises to be historic for the group and the community.
