Placas with QR Code expand access to Ponta Grossa's heritage

The Municipal Secretariat of Culture of Ponta Grossa has started the installation of new identification plates in the assets that make up the cultural heritage of the municipality. In total, about 150 new signs will be placed in different parts of the city, replacing the old signs and expanding the access of the population to information on protected goods.

The new plates feature QR Code which directs directly to the Cultural Heritage Information System. There, contents on the history of the assets, photographs, information on their preservation and the processes of overturning are available, as well as data on the material and intangible cultural heritage of Ponta Grossa.

The initiative also incorporates a new visual identity for the Ponta Grossa Cultural Heritage. The new plaques do not feature government marks, but the identity of the heritage, created by the artist Alan Rufino. The symbol represents the spirals of time and everything that, over the generations, contributes to the construction of memory.

Replacement of old plates

The old signs were worn out and with limited information. With the substitution, the population will have access to a more complete and updated content about each protected good. The installation of the new plates takes place gradually in several parts of the city.

The Municipal Secretariat of Culture did not detail the complete installation schedule, but confirmed that about 150 plates will be placed. The action covers both material goods, such as buildings and monuments, as well as references to intangible heritage.

QR Code leads to information system

The QR Code present on each board can be read by any smartphone with camera. By pointing the cellphone, the user is directed to the Cultural Heritage Information System, an online platform that gathers official data on registered and registered assets.

In the system, it is possible to find the history of each asset, old and current photographs, details about the tumbling process and guidelines on preservation. Information on intangible heritage, such as cultural manifestations and traditional knowledge, is also available.

New visual identity without government marks

The new signs do not display municipal management logos. Instead, they bring a visual identity of their own, developed by the artist Alan Rufino. The created symbol represents the spirals of time, referring to the construction of memory over generations.

This choice reinforces the permanent character of cultural heritage, detached from specific administrations. The identity will also be used in other actions and products related to the cultural heritage of the municipality, such as tickets to safeguarded events and products linked to traditional manifestations and knowledge, including straw crafts.

Impact on the population

The expansion of access to information on cultural heritage benefits residents and visitors. With the new signs, anyone can learn more about the history and importance of protected property, even without the presence of a tour guide.

In addition, visual standardization and integration with the online system make it easier to consult and disseminate assets. The expectation is that the initiative strengthens the sense of belonging and the appreciation of local memory.

Next steps

The Ministry of Culture did not inform when all the plates will be installed. The source did not detail whether there will be a specific launch event or disclosure of the new system. However, the action is already underway and can be observed in different parts of the city.
