The Municipal School Mayor José Hoffmann held the 1st Walk for Peace, a mobilization aimed at valuing respect, empathy and harmonious coexistence. The initiative is part of the project “Walking for Peace”, which proposes reflections on how small attitudes can contribute to transform the school environment and the community.

The route began at the José Hoffmann School and continued until the Otacília School. At the destination, the participants were received by the staff and the students of the institution. During the meeting, the students of José Hoffmann made a brief presentation and displayed posters with messages of peace.

The activity brought the two school communities closer together and brought a message from the project beyond the classroom: peacebuilding depends on everyone’s participation.

Small Attitudes in Everyday Life

The purpose of the “Walking for Peace” is to encourage students to recognize the importance of knowing how to listen, respect differences, dialogue, help others and resolve conflicts in a peaceful way.

In addition to the march, the project provides pedagogical activities, conversations, music, production of posters and tracks. These resources seek to stimulate reflection and show how caring for others can be present in day-to-day relationships.

The proposal also highlights the role of teachers, staff and families in promoting a more welcoming coexistence. The involvement of the school community is pointed out as a fundamental part to strengthen these values inside and outside the school.

Meeting between schools strengthens message of unity

The reception at the Otacília School and the presentation of the students marked the walk as a moment of integration. With the posters, the students shared messages that reinforce the purpose of the initiative and invite reflection on the responsibility of each person in building respectful relationships.

Under the motto “Small steps, great transformations: together for peace!”, the José Hoffmann School seeks to encourage attitudes of unity and solidarity, making students participants in the construction of a culture of peace.
