Ferrugem releases tribute to Alcione in December
Ferrugem scheduled the release of the audiovisual album in tribute to Alcione for December 2, National Samba Day. Recorded in Rio de Janeiro, the project includes 13 songs from the singer's repertoire and featured the tribute recipient's participation.

The singer Ferrugem announced for December 2, National Samba Day, the release of the audiovisual album in honor of Alcione. The project, entitled “Legacy – Rust sings Alcione”, is part of the “Legacy” series, started by the artist two years ago with the album “Legacy of Prince – Rust sings Reinaldo” (2024). The recording took place on the evening of October 28, in a closed show at the City Theatre of the Arts, in Rio de Janeiro, with the participation of Marrom herself.
Legacy Project gets new chapter
The “Legacy” series is a personal project of Ferrugem to revere great names of Brazilian music. The first volume honored the sambist Reinaldo, the Prince of the Pagoda. Now, the Rio de Janeiro singer turns his gaze to Alcione, one of the most striking voices of samba and MPB. The choice reinforces the affective and professional connection between the two artists.
The album brings together 13 selected tracks from Alcione’s repertoire. The list includes hits such as “Don’t let the samba die,” “Thank you,” “Makes a madness for me,” “My addiction is you,” “You turn my head (takes me seriously),” “Beyond the bed,” “Strange madness,” “Delicious poison,” “The wolf,” and “A being of light.” The music “Queda de braço” by Altay Velloso, less known to the general public, also enters the repertoire.
Gratitude and recognition
For Rust, the tribute represents a public thanks for Alcione’s support at the beginning of his career. In 2015, during the recording of the album “Climatizar”, the singer invited Marrom for a feat on the track “Paciência”, and the invitation was accepted. Since then, the partnership has opened important doors for the payee.
“Alcione welcomed me and helped me to open paths so that my music reached more people, not only in Brazil, but also in other countries,” said Ferrugem. The speech highlights the importance of the singer in the trajectory of the artist, who today is one of the main names of the national pagoda.
Intimate recording in Rio
The recording show took place in a closed, guest-only format at the City of Arts Chamber Theatre. Alcione’s presence on stage made the moment even more special. The singer, known as Marrom, accompanied Rust during the performance, in a meeting of generations of samba and pagoda.
The choice of the site, in the west of Rio de Janeiro, reinforces the intimate character of the project. The Chamber Theatre has a reduced capacity, which allowed a greater proximity between the artists and the selected audience. The production of the event did not release details about the guest list.
Repertoire mixes successes and rarity
Of the 13 songs chosen, most are composed of major hits from Alcione's career. Songs such as “Não deixe o samba morrer” and “A loba” are true Brazilian samba hymns. Already “Queda de braço”, by Altay Velloso, is a less known track, but that gains new interpretation in the voice of Rust.
The selection also includes compositions by established names such as Chico Roque, Michael Sullivan, Carlos Colla, Wilson Moreira, Nei Lopes, João Nogueira and Paulo César Pinheiro. The diversity of authors shows the richness of Alcione’s repertoire and the extent of his influence on Brazilian popular music.
Launch on Samba Day
The date chosen for the release, December 2, is symbolic. The National Day of Samba celebrates the genre that unites Rust and Alcione. The tribute gains even more significance by being presented on this date, reinforcing the singer’s commitment to the preservation and enhancement of samba.
The album will be available in audiovisual format, following the trend of projects that unite music and image. The expectation is that the material will reach the digital platforms and the official channel of the artist on YouTube. Details about distribution and physical formats have not been reported by the source.
Next steps of the project
With the launch of the tribute to Alcione, Ferrugem follows the “Legacy” series and consolidates his role as an interpreter of great classics. The project may open space for new tributes in the future, broadening the dialogue between the pagoda and other aspects of samba.
For fans of Alcione and Rust, the album promises to be an exciting meeting of generations. The live recording, with the presence of Marrom, should eternize a unique moment of Brazilian music. The public is now waiting for the 2nd of December to check the full result.
Meanwhile, fans can revisit Alcione’s hits and the first volume of the Legacy project, available on digital platforms. Expectations are high for the new work, which reinforces the importance of celebrating the icons of our music.
