Firefighters attend to a fire incident at a bank branch in Ponta Grossa Center
Firefighters were mobilized in Ponta Grossa after smoke from a bank branch in the Center; the security system was activated.
A start to a fire in Ponta Grossa mobilized firefighting teams on Saturday afternoon after merchants noticed a large amount of smoke coming out of a bank correspondent located in the central region of the city.
The situation took place in the region of Rua Sete de Setembro, at the corner of Rua Doutor Colares and Rua Vicente Machado, next to the old Banco Itaú and close to commercial establishments in the area.
According to information obtained by the BnT Online on the spot, merchants and employees of nearby stores perceived the smoke leaving the property and triggered the Fire Department. Initially, there was the suspicion that the problem could be related to the building of Banco Itaú, but, during the verification, it was identified that the smoke came from a bank correspondent located in the back of the property.
To access the space, the firefighters had to open the door and enter the place to verify the origin of the smoke.
According to Lieutenant Paes, of the Fire Department, the team was triggered after the identification of a large amount of smoke in the property.
“When we arrived at the site, we made the opening of the property of the funds, of a correspondent of Itaú himself. It was verified that there was actually a large amount of smoke. We went in, we looked for the focus to do the combat, but there was no focus,” the military explained.
According to the Fire Department, the situation was related to the operation of the security system of an ATM, which eventually released a smoke into the environment.
Despite the scare caused among traders and people who circulated through the central region of Ponta Grossa, there was no record of flames on the spot and no one was injured.
The team carried out the check of the structure and confirmed that there was no need for firefighting. The service served to ensure the security of the property and avoid possible risks.
The case caught the attention of nearby traders due to the large volume of smoke perceived in the area, but was quickly controlled by firefighters.
