Woman accused of killing a young man with 17 stabs is acquitted by jury in Ponta Grossa
Woman accused of triple-qualified homicide in Ponta Grossa is acquitted by the Jury Court after trial
The Jury Court of Ponta Grossa acquitted a woman accused of involvement in the death of Jackson Luis Ferreira de Quadros, which occurred in May 2025, at Vila Coronel Cláudio. She was responsible for qualified homicide for clumsy motive, cruel means and recourse that hindered the defense of the victim, in addition to accusation related to the participation of a teenager in the crime.
The acquittal was announced by defense lawyers shortly after the trial. According to the defenders, the Judgment Council accepted the theses presented during the plenary and decided to absolve.
“After a year and a half of strenuous criminal proceedings, the Ponta Grossa County Jury Court, in response to theses presented by the defense, acquitted the defendant of a triple-qualified homicide charge,” said one of the lawyers in a video released after the trial.
According to the defense, the woman must leave prison after the decision. “Today, with this acquittal, she will be released,” the defender said.
Defense says expert evidence removed authorship
Another lawyer who participated in the trial pointed out that the Judgment Council was formed by four men and three women.
According to him, the thesis presented to the jurors was not limited to the allegation of lack of evidence. The defense argued that there were technical elements that would rule out the possibility that the accused had participated directly in the murder.
“The Judgment Board not only acknowledged that there was no evidence against the defendant, but that there was technical evidence, cabal evidence, expert evidence that she could not in any way be the author of the action,” he said.
The statement represents the version presented by the defense after the trial. In the case files, the Public Prosecutor’s Office had held a different understanding and argued that there were sufficient elements to bring the charge to the Jury Court.
The Crime
Jackson Luis Ferreira de Quadros was killed on May 25, 2025, in Theófilo Cunha Street, Vila Coronel Cláudio, Ponta Grossa.
According to the Prosecutor's Office of Paraná, Jackson was approached in public and suffered knife wounds, dying as a result of acute bleeding. The prosecution pointed to the involvement of the woman and a 17-year-old teenager in the crime.
The report cited in the process pointed to at least 17 perforated lesions in the victim's body. The amount of injuries was used by the Public Prosecutor's Office to sustain the classifier of cruel means.
MP pointed to retaliation as motivation
The complaint maintained that the murder occurred in retaliation for an alleged debt involving a cousin of the victim.
According to the version presented by the prosecution, this woman would have ordered the death of another man, but would not have paid the combined amount. As a result, her relatives were threatened and Jackson was killed in reprisal.
This thesis served as the basis for the qualifier of clumsy motive.
Justice had determined trial by the jury
Before the trial, the court had understood that there were sufficient evidence of authorship for the accused to be submitted to the Jury Court.
Among the elements mentioned in the ruling were security cameras, family statements and clothing similar to those recorded in the crime video, later found in the property where the woman was located.
The lawsuit also gathered photographs, bulletins of occurrence, expert reports, necropsy reports, examinations and other materials used by the prosecution to support the materiality of the murder.
The defense, however, already contested the strength of this probationary group and had asked that the woman not be brought to trial by the jury.
The jury decided to absolve
During the trial, it was up to the Judgment Council to review the evidence and versions presented by the prosecution and the defense.
In the end, the jury decided to acquit the defendant. As announced by the lawyers, the decision should also result in the release of the woman, since she remained preventively imprisoned.
The accused had been arrested in flagrante the day after the crime and subsequently had her prison converted into a preventive detention. In September 2025, when she was ordered to be tried by the Jury Court, the Court had maintained incommunicado detention.
