GCM arrests suspect in sexual harassment case on Ponta Grossa bus after passenger intervention. 17-year-old teenager was attended to by the team.
The Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) arrested a man suspected of sexual harassment on a bus of Ponta Grossa on Saturday afternoon (17). The incident involved a 17-year-old girl who was in a collective on the route between the Uvaranas neighborhood and Terminal Central. Passengers perceived the situation, intervened and held the suspect until the arrival of the team.
According to the information of the Municipal Civil Guard, the agents were activated through the Integrated Center of Public Security Operations (CIOSP) to verify a complaint involving a passenger of the public transport.
When the team received the information about the occurrence, the man had already been contained by people who witnessed the situation inside the bus.
Teenager reported approach within the collective
In conversation with the municipal guards, the teenager said that the suspect had offered bullets repeatedly during the journey.
According to the young woman’s account, at some point, the man would have touched her leg without consent, a situation that motivated the intervention of other passengers.
The people who witnessed the approach acted to prevent the continuity of the conduct and stayed on site to provide clarifications to the authorities.
One of the witnesses confirmed to the officers the information related to the complaint. Another person presented images recorded by cell phone, which were made available to the team during the service.

According to the report of the occurrence, the records made by a witness would also contain a speech attributed to a person in the background, mentioning a supposed threat against the teenager.
The suspect was questioned by the officers and presented his version of the reported facts.
Based on the information collected, the testimonies of the witnesses and the elements presented, the team of the Municipal Civil Guard gave voice of arrest to the man.
He was informed of his constitutional rights and referred to the Police Station for evaluation of the police authority and adoption of the appropriate procedures.
According to the GCM, there was no need for the use of handcuffs during driving.
Mother accompanied teenager to the police station
As the occurrence of sexual harassment on Ponta Grossa buses involved a 17-year-old girl, city guards contacted the girl’s mother so she could accompany her during the proceedings at the police unit.
The identity of the teenager has been preserved.
The occurrence was referred to the Civil Police, responsible for the evaluation of the facts presented and the relevant legal procedures.
The information made available so far does not detail any decision by the police authority on the maintenance of the prison or other subsequent referrals.
